One of the first things I learned to bake was chocolate chip cookies. The idea of a chocolate chip cookie seems so simple, but to make a truly delicious chocolate chip cookie it takes a lot of trial and error. After making many chocolate chip cookies, I have created this easy recipe which produces a flawless batch of cookies that are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. This recipe is not like other chocolate chip cookies because it has a base of browned butter which adds a nutty flavor to compliment the sweet sugary cookie.

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F and line 2 pans with parchment paper.
Add the butter to a pan at medium heat. Let butter cook for 6-8 minutes. Once the butter has browned, set aside to cool.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and browned butter (cooled at room temp.). Next, whisk in the eggs, egg yolk and vanilla extract.
Set mixture aside. In a separate bowl, combine the all purpose flour and the baking soda. Add the flour mixture to the previous mixture. Fold with a spatula to combine.
Add some chocolate chips to the dough.
Shape the dough into 1.5-2 inch diameter cookie dough balls. Place each dough ball onto the pan making sure there is an inch between each cookie.
Bake the cookies for 10-13 minutes.
Enjoy!
